ASTM/ASME S32304 (UNS S32304) Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are lean duplex grade products conforming to ASTM A790/A928 standards, featuring a balanced chromium (21.5-24.5%) and nickel (3.0-5.5%) composition with molybdenum (0.05-0.6%) and nitrogen (0.05-0.20%) for cost-effective corrosion resistance and double the yield strength (≥400 MPa) of standard 304L stainless. This economical duplex alloy delivers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking and moderate pitting resistance (PREN ≥26) in chloride environments, making it ideal for structural components, water systems, and industrial equipment where both mechanical performance and moderate corrosion resistance are required. The optimized ferrite-austenite microstructure provides good weldability and thermal stability up to 250°C (482°F), offering a nickel-saving alternative to austenitic grades for applications like chemical transport, pulp/paper processing, and architectural structures exposed to mildly corrosive conditions, though with reduced low-temperature toughness compared to standard duplex grades.
