ASTM/ASME S32906 (UNS S32906) Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are super-ferritic grade products conforming to ASTM A268 standards, featuring a high-purity chromium (28-30%) and molybdenum (3.5-4.5%) composition with nitrogen stabilization for exceptional chloride resistance (PREN ≥40) and stress corrosion cracking immunity. This ultra-low interstitial alloy delivers austenitic-grade toughness with superior pitting/crevice corrosion resistance in aggressive environments like seawater cooling systems, desalination plants, and chemical processing equipment. The fully ferritic microstructure provides excellent thermal conductivity and low expansion characteristics for heat exchangers operating up to 400°C (750°F), while its titanium/niobium stabilization ensures weldability without sensitization. Particularly specified for applications where standard duplex grades approach cost-prohibitive levels, S32906 offers nickel-free performance bridging the gap between conventional stainless steels and nickel alloys for severe chloride exposure.
