ASTM/ASME 2205 (F51) Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are duplex (austenitic-ferritic) grade products (UNS S32205/S31803) conforming to ASTM A790/A928 standards, featuring a balanced microstructure with 22-23% chromium, 4.5-6.5% nickel, 3.0-3.5% molybdenum, and 0.14-0.20% nitrogen for exceptional strength (2x 304/316 grades) and chloride corrosion resistance. This dual-phase alloy delivers superior stress corrosion cracking immunity and pitting resistance (PREN ≥35), making it ideal for aggressive environments in offshore oil/gas, chemical processing, and desalination systems. The controlled nitrogen content enhances weldability and phase balance, while the duplex structure provides excellent fatigue strength and thermal conductivity up to 300°C (572°F). Available in seamless and welded forms, 2205 pipes/tubes are particularly suitable for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and subsea pipelines where combined mechanical performance and corrosion resistance justify its premium over standard stainless steels, with compliance to NACE MR0175 for sour service applications.
