ASTM/ASME 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are precipitation-hardening martensitic (UNS S17400) products conforming to ASTM A312/A213/A790 standards, featuring a precision-balanced chromium (15-17.5%), nickel (3-5%), and copper (3-5%) composition with niobium/tantalum stabilization for exceptional strength-to-weight ratio (up to 1310 MPa yield in H1150 condition) and corrosion resistance comparable to 304 stainless. This versatile alloy achieves its superior mechanical properties through low-temperature aging treatments (480-620°C) rather than conventional quenching, making it particularly suitable for aerospace components, nuclear reactor parts, and chemical processing equipment requiring both high strength and moderate corrosion resistance. The material maintains excellent toughness down to cryogenic temperatures and demonstrates superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared to conventional martensitic grades, with typical applications including hydraulic systems, turbine blades, and marine components where dimensional stability under load is critical. Available in solution-annealed (Condition A) or various precipitation-hardened states (H900, H1025, H1150) to meet specific mechanical property requirements while maintaining full weldability with proper post-weld heat treatment protocols.
