ASTM/ASME 329 Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are duplex (austenitic-ferritic) grade products (UNS S32900) conforming to ASTM A790/A928 standards, featuring a chromium-rich (25-28%) and nickel-moderated (3-6%) composition with 1-2% molybdenum for exceptional stress corrosion cracking resistance and double the yield strength (≥450 MPa) of standard austenitic grades. This cost-effective duplex alloy delivers superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride environments, making it ideal for chemical processing equipment, oilfield piping, and structural components in moderately aggressive environments. The balanced microstructure provides excellent resistance to sulfuric acid and other reducing media while maintaining good weldability and thermal conductivity up to 300°C (572°F). Particularly suitable for heat exchanger tubes, pressure vessels, and industrial process systems where both mechanical strength and corrosion performance exceed conventional 304/316 stainless capabilities, though with reduced low-temperature toughness compared to fully austenitic grades.
