This economically optimized duplex alloy delivers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting (PREN ≥26) in chloride environments, making it ideal for structural components, water treatment systems, and industrial process equipment where both mechanical performance and moderate corrosion resistance are required. The balanced ferrite-austenite microstructure provides good weldability and thermal conductivity up to 300°C (572°F), offering a nickel-saving alternative to conventional stainless steels for applications like chemical transport, desalination plants, and architectural structures exposed to marine atmospheres, though with reduced low-temperature toughness compared to standard duplex grades.
