ASTM/ASME 441 Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are high-performance ferritic (UNS S44100) products conforming to ASTM A268 standards, featuring a dual-stabilized composition with titanium and niobium additions (0.20-0.60% Ti, 0.30-0.90% Nb) to 17-19% chromium content for exceptional intergranular corrosion resistance and thermal stability. This advanced ferritic grade offers superior high-temperature strength (up to 900°C/1650°F) and oxidation resistance compared to conventional ferritic stainless steels, along with excellent resistance to thermal fatigue in cyclic heating applications. The alloy's optimized microstructure delivers enhanced formability and weldability characteristics, making it particularly suitable for automotive exhaust systems (including catalytic converter housings), industrial heat exchangers, and energy recovery equipment where both elevated temperature performance and cost efficiency are critical. With its nickel-free composition, 441 provides a cost-effective alternative to austenitic grades while demonstrating better thermal conductivity and lower thermal expansion for demanding thermal cycling applications.
