ASTM/ASME 439 Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are titanium-stabilized ferritic (UNS S43035) products conforming to ASTM A268 standards, featuring optimized chromium (17-19%) content with titanium stabilization (0.20% min.) for superior weldability and intergranular corrosion resistance. This advanced ferritic grade offers improved formability and toughness over conventional 430 stainless, along with excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and oxidation up to 815°C (1500°F). The alloy's enhanced corrosion resistance in mildly acidic and chloride-containing environments makes it particularly suitable for automotive exhaust systems, heat exchangers, and architectural applications where both thermal durability and cost-effectiveness are required. With its low thermal expansion characteristics and nickel-free composition, 439 provides a performance-balanced alternative to austenitic grades for applications demanding good fabrication characteristics and moderate corrosion resistance in elevated temperature service conditions.
