ASTM/ASME 317 Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are high-molybdenum austenitic (UNS S31700) products conforming to ASTM A312/A213 standards, featuring elevated chromium (18-20%), nickel (11-15%), and molybdenum (3-4%) content for superior corrosion resistance in aggressive chemical environments, particularly against pitting, crevice corrosion, and sulfuric acid attack. This grade offers approximately 30% better chloride resistance than standard 316 alloys, making it ideal for chemical processing equipment, pulp/paper mills, and flue gas desulfurization systems where extreme corrosion resistance is required, while maintaining good weldability and formability for complex industrial applications in highly corrosive service conditions.
